OMG. Already coming to a year not posting anything at my blog, all because using I-Phone to post at FB.

I am very busy baking Mooncake for the past few week, after resting for a few days , yesterday decided to make some lotus pau since it quite some time since my last pau.

I am very happy with the Lotus Pau as the skin is soft and fluffy. I will make some chicken & meat Pau tonight.

Today is 冬至, so yesterday make my own 汤圆 .

Chinese fesitval dishes usually have auspicious and meaningful names and the tang yuan 汤圆 is no different.The entire phrase tang yuan 汤圆 symbolises "tuan yuan" (family reunion / 团圆 ), and eating tang yuan on Dong Zhi 冬至 represents family reunion and harmony, and also signifies family unity and family prosperity.

Here I would like to wish everybody a very Prosperous 冬至 and good health throughout the Years.

Vegetable And Prawn Fritters

Few years back while my two boys still very young,I work as a part time at Jurong Point Shopping centre selling HongKong tim sum, I love eating the Vegetable and Prawn Fritters which the stall owner fry, but after 1 year working with him and due to need to look after my boys I stop working.

A year later, the owner wanted to open a childcare centre and decided not to continue the contract with the shopping centre.Since than I cannot get a nice fritter and really miss the taste of these fritter until I saw this recipe and decided to try hopefully I can get the similar smell and taste.These fritter smell and taste quite similar but I still find something is missing, anyway I am glad that at least it is much better than outside selling.

Yesterday night after work, I try baking these HongKong 菠萝包 that Aunty Irene keep praising that these buns really taste very great.

So after 2 hours of hardwork,finally these HongKong 菠萝包 ready to be eaten , as instruct by Aunty Irene that it taste even great if 1 or 2 slices of SCS butter to be sandwich while it is still hot.

As usual my youngest son will be the one that taste it first,suddenly he shouted
" Mummy , Oh No these Hongkong菠萝包really "SEE BAY HO CHIA and it is also the best bun I ever had" after hearing what he say, I ask my hubby to try, but he claim that he is still very full, so I pester him to just have a bite and to my surprise he asks for another slice of SCS butter to be sandwich and took the whole piece.

I am really very happy and enjoy watching them eating. Thanks Aunty Irene for the great recipe and all the teaches through out all these years.

It's been three weeks since my last post.Due to my nephew's birthday which falls on the 5th of October, so yesterday bake this Coffee Buttercream Cake for him and cos he love Chocolate,so decided to coat it with Chocolate Ganache.Hope he will enjoy this cake.

Mooncakes

Roti Prata

As I'm quite impressed with Indian making the Prata,so decided to make Prata myself.It is indeed fun to play with Prata especially when trying to flip the Prata .In state of having a big and thin Prata, my Prata sometime seem to have hole and as you flip the hole getting bigger and bigger.It may not be a easy job but I am quite happy with the end product,the taste is just as what I bought from the Prata stall.

Chocolate Rocher

Yesterday morning,Auntie Irene called me and ask why there isn't any news from me as all the Kaypo Club member was so crazy about making this PumpkinKaya.My explanation was I dun really love Pumpkin,but she insisted that I should try this as the taste really very good.So yesterday after work,get all the ingredients and start to cook the Pumpkin Kaya.Indeed the taste really very good as I can't even taste the pumpkin and the texture really very smooth.Thanks Auntie Irene for all the effort trying to convince me to cook this great Kaya.

Since the first day of my baking journal,yet to try making Jelly with filling and due to the bad weather,yesterday decided to try making Red Bean Jelly Angku.The whole process of making this dessert is not so complicated,the only time consuming is the cooking of the Red Bean.I am quite happy with the end product as is it not too sweet , the texture is not too soft nor too hard.

Yesterday, suddenly have the feeling of making these Kueh Makmur,so at about 7.30pm I start to prepare all the ingredient and start at about 8pm.The whole process took about 3hrs b4 finish baking.Although the process is long but I think it is worth doing cos this is one of my favourite.

These is the Traditional Wo Ko Kueh that my youngest son and I love to eat .I saw this recipe when shopping at Popular,so decided to copy the recipe and try making it.The whole process take 3 days and 12 hrs before steaming it.I am very happy after tasting it , it reminded me that time really flies, I remember that the last time my youngest had this was about 6 yrs ago.He was so delighted when he saw this Traditional Wo Ko Kueh.
