Kueh Lapis

I have never try baking Kueh Lapis before,as I know the process is very time consuming but becos it is a request from my hubby to bake for his buddy, I have no choice but to try baking it.Luckily ,with the help of Auntie Irene, I finally know how to bake this delicious Kueh Lapis and hope that his buddy will enjoy this so called "Thousand Layer Cake."

Hi Oink

haha...u really count from the picture huh...I remember auntie Irene has mentioned to me before that she didn't think the mode of her oven could bake a perfect cake lapis, think something to do with heat control, that's why she didn't attempt with it again...she is eyeing for another oven model to bake this cake lapis...

Long time ago my sis has baked it once (her friend gave her some spice powder to try) but I didn't follow through the process, only knew it's rather time consuming.

Hi Dorene

My other sis always like to order Cake Lapis during Chinese New Year...her Indonesian friend sometimes brought & presented her the cakes from Indonesia. Their recipe is very different, taste very fragrant but I find it extremely rich in butter. Next time if have think I'll bring some for auntie Irene to try.
